Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Computational fluid dynamics uses numerical methods and algorithms to solve and analyze the fluid flow problems. The applications of computers are used to perform the calculations that are required to simulate the interaction of liquids and gases with surfaces defined by boundary conditions.

Fuzzy modeling studies the process of identifying the parameters of a fuzzy inference system in order to gain the behavior of the system. It uses truth degrees as a mathematical model of the vagueness phenomenon. Fuzzy modeling can handle uncertain and imprecise knowledge in real-world applications.

A mathematical model is a description of a system using mathematical concepts and language. The process of developing a mathematical model is termed as mathematical modeling. A model may help to explain a system and to study the effects of different components, and to make predictions about system behavior.

A statistical model is a formalization of relationships between variables in mathematical equations. Statistical modeling is broadly defined as the process of building effective descriptions of complex statistical data. It acts as a bridge between the fundamental methods and important applications in a wide variety of areas.

Operational research is a scientific field that uses quantitative methods to aid in decision making. It has been successfully applied to a wide range of problems arising in business and engineering. A common element of these problems is the need to allocate scarce resources to meet conflicting objectives.

- Mathematics and Statistics Education (MSE)

In contemporary education, mathematics education is the practice of teaching and learning mathematics, along with the associated scholarly research. It is primarily concerned with the tools, methods and approaches that facilitate practice or the study of practice. Statistics education is the practice of teaching and learning of statistics, along with the associated scholarly research. Statistics is both a formal science and a practical theory of scientific inquiry, and both aspects are considered in statistics education.

- Time Series and Applications (TSA)

A time series is a sequence of data points, typically consisting of successive measurements made over a time interval. Time series analysis comprises methods for analyzing time series data in order to extract meaningful statistics and other characteristics of the data. Time series forecasting is the use of a model to predict future values based on previously observed values

- Quality Control and Data Mining (QCDM)

Quality control emphasizes testing of products to uncover defects and reporting to management who make the decision to allow or deny product release, whereas quality assurance attempts to improve and stabilize production to avoid, or at least minimize, issues which led to the defect(s) in the first place. Data mining is the computational process of discovering patterns in large data sets.
